The AlloMir Discovery group at Canary Global is seeking a passionate, creative scientist to join our highly interdisciplinary team focused on the advancement of our antiMIR Platform and Lead Development efforts through novel approaches towards a deeper mechanistic and/or structural understanding of antiMIR therapeutics and biomarker development. The successful candidate will join our AlloMIR RNA synthesis team and have a strong background in oligonucleotide chemistry/biochemistry through in-depth hands-on experience in the synthesis and chemical/biophysical characterization of oligonucleotides as well as their potential biological applications.
Key Responsibilities
Working within our cross-functional RNA Synthesis team, design and execute the automated synthesis, purification, and analysis of miR biomarkers targets and antiMIR therapeutics with various chemistries and scales using state-of-the-art instrumentation platforms; Improve and/or develop automation and/or new processes to expand upon current antiMIR and/or RNA synthesis capabilities
Working closely with internal AlloMIR Platform team, design and lead projects to advance our next generation efforts through an improved understanding of mechanism and structure towards enhanced potency, safety, new target-ligand pairs, or other novel approaches
Actively support our efforts towards the discovery of lead drug candidates , biomarker discovery , clinical trial analysis and collaborate with our CMC and Process scale groups to transition novel modalities into development
Work closely with members across various sub-teams in AlloMIR discovery and Research and participate and/or lead internal meetings
Communicate relevant information and results to the R&D department as well as other key stakeholders such as clinical trial support throughout the organization
Qualifications
PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline with 1 to4 years post-degree experience in an industrial or academic setting
Strong experience in solid-phase synthesis techniques is required (prior experience in automated oligonucleotide synthesis is preferred)
Strong laboratory skills and experience with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis spectrometry, etc. is required
Experience in developing new chromatographic methods (IEX/RP HPLC, SPE, LC-MS) is a plus
Ability to work within cross-functional teams and work as a team player. Possess collaborative mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills, and attention to detail
Ability to recognize impactful areas of research and organize both individual and team efforts to investigate using a broad range of approaches
